Open Cell Spray Foam Insulation

Spray Foam insulation is a highly versatile energy-saving system that works equally well whether insulating your roof, loft, walls or floor.

Upgrade Your Efficiency

One of the best ways to retrofit your existing home is to eliminate the uncontrolled flow of air and moisture that moves in and out of the structure. Allowing unwanted air to enter and conditioned air to escape will increase energy consumption and negatively impact overall comfort. When retrofitting your home, you should consider your biggest point of energy loss, your attic.

Sealing this area with spray foam insulation will greatly enhance your comfort and provide savings to your home’s lifespan.

Attics typically consume 45% of the energy that heats and cools your home.

With rising energy costs, keeping your home warm is getting very expensive. Installing Spray Foam Insulation can lower your heating costs and keep your home warmer for longer.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF SPRAY FOAM?

Installing spray foam insulation will help save you and your household money yearly. The spray foam will seal air within the property and help prevent heat loss, making it cheaper to warm your home in the winter and help you save money every year. If you wish to sell your home, buyers will find buying your property with spray foam a more attractive option. The savings begin immediately upon installation.

Many illnesses like asthma and allergies are often caused by airborne pollutants such as dust, dirt, carbon monoxide and many more. By choosing spray foam insulation, your home will be sealed from a wide range of pollutants in the air. Many customers notice a positive difference in their health after installation.

Once our spray foam insulation is installed, you will find that your home is more comfortable than ever before. Drafts will be a thing of the past as the seal created by the spray foam installation will help reduce cold and hot spots within the home as gaps are closed, contributing to an even temperature within your property. If your home is near a noisy area, the spray foam seal will even help reduce the volume of any external noise.

Current guidelines recommend up to 10 inches of insulation in your loft. This is usually added to the ground, rather than the roofline, which results in the loss of your storage area, due to not being able to refit floor boards after installation. By implementing spray foam insulation to the roofline, you regain the lost 10 inches, thus increasing storage, height and practicality. Reclaim your loft space!

Airtight spray foam insulation has many protective benefits for the home. It restricts air movement, which stops moisture accumulation so mould growth is less likely to occur. Once the spray foam has solidified, pests of all kinds will also find it difficult to enter your home through the now sealed areas.

Spray foam insulation can help support the overall structure of your property. This is dependent on the application and thickness of the spray foam on installation.

SPRAY FOAM INSULATION

VS FIBERGLASS

Why should you use spray foam insulation over fibreglass?

  1. Energy Efficiency: Spray foam insulation can help reduce energy bills by reducing the heat that escapes your home or building, making it more energy-efficient.

  2. Durability: Spray foam insulation is more durable than fibreglass insulation and can last up to 80 years, making it a cost-effective choice in the long term.

  3. Moisture Resistant: Spray foam insulation is water-resistant and can help prevent mould and mildew growth, which is not the case with fibreglass insulation.

  4. Soundproofing: Spray foam insulation can also help reduce noise levels in your home or building because of its density.

  5. Environmentally Friendly: Spray foam insulation is made from recyclable materials and can help reduce your carbon footprint.

  6. Improved Air Quality: Spray foam insulation can help improve air quality by reducing the amount of dust, pollen, and other allergens that enter your home or building.

  7. Pest Control: Spray foam insulation can also help prevent rodents and insects from entering your home or building.

  8. Easy Installation: Spray foam insulation is easy to install and can be applied to almost any surface, including walls, ceilings, and floors.

  9. Cost-Effective: Although the initial cost of spray foam insulation may be higher than fibreglass insulation, it is a more cost-effective choice in the long term because of its durability and energy efficiency.

First Stop Home Improvements has always been actively promoting spray foam's benefits for homeowners in reducing their energy bills drastically.

We have been vocal in raising concerns regarding rogue companies who install spray foam wrongly at lower prices. The installations carried out by these companies might be cheaper, but they ultimately cost way more for the clients.

The Property Care Association (PCA) is a trade association representing property specialists who can be trusted to resolve problems affecting your building. PCA recently released a document that provided a framework to assist property professionals and residential surveyors in undertaking non-invasive visual inspections of spray foam applications to the inside of pitched roofs.

The following chart highlights the complete process that a licensed surveyor follows while inspecting the spray foam applied in your loft. It also shows the reason why the surveyor may approve the spray foam installation or might ask the homeowner to remove the spray foam or recommend re-roofing.

The section highlighted in red shows the process by which the surveyor approves spray foam insulation. First Stop Home Improvements is an accredited firm which uses premium Synthesia Technology Spray Foam Insulation and has BBA certifications. The entire document pack is provided to the customer post-installation. Licensed and professional sprayers carry out the whole installation. Thus, the entire process under the highlighted red section stands true for First Stop Home Improvements.

As long as the customers have spray foam installed by an accredited firm and have the required documents with the necessary certifications, the surveyor will approve the spray foam.
